Raj Kumar Gupta’s sequel to his 2018 hit, Raid, is a worthy successor that expands the scope of the original while maintaining its core appeal. This crime thriller pits the relentless Amay Patnaik against a new and formidable adversary, creating a tense game of cat and mouse. The Good: Ajay Devgn once again delivers a compelling and understated performance, embodying the stoic integrity of his character. Riteish Deshmukh is a revelation as the antagonist, bringing a sinister, calculated energy to the role that makes him a genuinely menacing foe. The film's screenplay is its biggest asset, weaving a complex web of political corruption and deception that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The raid sequences are well-executed, with a sense of urgency and intelligent strategy. The Bad: At over two hours, the film occasionally suffers from a sluggish pace, particularly in its first half as it builds the new conflict. Some of the musical numbers feel out of place and disrupt the serious tone of the narrative. While the central conflict between the two leads is excellent, some of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped and are primarily used to move the plot forward rather than as fully realized individuals. Raid 2 is a strong follow-up that, despite some minor pacing issues, succeeds on the strength of its lead performances and a captivating, well-written plot. It's a must-watch for fans of the original and the political thriller genre.
