The quiet Rose works in women's fashion clothing, hoping to be a designer. A traffic accident damages her face. She gets experimental stem cell treatment, leaving her stronger and prettier than ever - but there's a side effect.
- cloudsrivalFebruary 3, 2026Screenplay needed a lot of work. They don't establish the characters at all. We just get inserted into their lives. We barely know who they are, and we don't get a chance to empathize with them when something bad happens. The bad things that happen are VERY underplayed. They barely talk about people being murdered in public. And the ending is flat-out stupid. She's not rabid or a creature, and any homage to Cronenberg is completely unnecessary.
- DigitalDisappointmentMarch 2, 2025Yet another interesting concept ruined by a truly retarded ending. Did you like "The Substance" but think it should have ended half an hour sooner? This one's no different. The movie would have been good if it had ended with some mystery intact - not GREAT, though, cuz the 'cause and effect' they put forward with rabies is utterly preposterous.
