Prometheus Ratings & Reviews
- Stairwaytothestars1d agoExcellent with great atmosphere and acting and Bravo to Ridley Scott once again!
- Daniel Taylor3d agoI really enjoyed Prometheus. It’s such an interesting way to dive into the beginnings of the Alien franchise. The story sets up so many questions and connections to the other movies that it makes you want to dig deeper into the lore. You can’t deny it leaves you wishing for more answers—especially about the links to the original alien planet.
- Paul TownsendJuly 25, 2025Great SciFi prequel to the awesome Alien series! Doesn't answer all the questions but, skillfully connects with the story line.
- jackmeatJanuary 27, 2025My quick rating - 7.5/10. This is an excellent sci-fi flick. Interesting way to start a review, eh? It looks spectacular visually and in terms of editing. The story itself is unique (I believe it was a comic book at some point) but either way, the plot will draw you in. Noomi Rapace does an excellent job in the lead, but no surprise there, she is a great actress. I did find the other characters a tad bit irritating aside from the Captain. Charlize Theron was used sparingly so not much to say (I read she was also considered for the lead). The action scenes are paced nicely and are used when needed but not overdone. When the action scenes were used, they were filmed so well even with the mix of CGI but I almost didn't even notice, well, almost lol. The obvious influence of the late H.R. Giger was also a nice touch, giving homage to the great artwork he graced us with. At 2 hours long, I was hard-pressed to even notice how long it was since I was that into the film. One way to end this short blurb is I am looking forward to the sequel which is coming in 2017. I believe any sci-fi fan would agree and will be looking forward to it as well. Non-sci-fi fans most likely will appreciate an interesting story and well-made movie so my final thought, see it.
- protowiccanApril 24, 2025Prometheus is a visually striking film, but a completely infuriating mess to watch. We are supposed to believe these people are some of humanities greatest minds, but most of them act so unbelievably incompetent I have difficulties believing they could go to the bathroom unsupervised.
- RyezooFebruary 15, 2025Not as good on the rewatch almost 5 years later. Still some impressive scenes and special effects that hold up. The c section scene is still amazing and intense to this day!
- vipor9576July 17, 2025Problems with her teaming up with the android who inplanted an alien in her belly
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025I’m loving everyone revisiting this franchise and (perhaps) reevaluating them. I really liked this film on initial watch, but really loved it this time around. I adore the heady sci-fi, the bleak revelations upon meeting your maker—shit. And the cast is so hot. What’s not to love unless you have an unquenched Xenomorph thirst? I still have more films to revisit, but I definitely think this lands in my top 3 in the franchise.
- CurtisJune 28, 2025Atmospheric and vibey as crap; I love this movie, but it's not "good" really -- too many odd casting choices (Guy Pearce, Locan Marshall-Green) and weird tropes smooshed on. There's a fantastic score, a ton of good ideas, and great acting from Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, and the rest. The folks who don't shine in this -- I don't blame. It seems like the content was probably changing out from under them constantly, and some of the choices make no sense in what turned out to be the final edit. I will revisit this for the good parts, and enjoy it as part of the Alien legend, though. It definitely qualifies for that, and is better than some of the worst entries.
- John ShadelJune 26, 2025Easily the best of all the Alien movies. It's a must see.
- Dave BarnesApril 12, 2025Ok, a bit pretentious, but a decent Alien story
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 7, 2025... It's not a Prequel. It's a new film in the Alien universe with a separate storyline. I was disappointed it did not show a back story to Alien 1979 but also pleased that Ridley produced a sci-fi masterclass. A simple script that barely juggled big topics but it was good enough for a theatrical release. I suspect Fox had a hand with it being different from Alien, but Ridley in conferences held for Prometheus did say it is not a Prequel. That said a lot of ignorant Alien fans continued to dream stubbornly for a Alien prequel and got a big shock on June first 2012.
- ghost0neMay 16, 2025A team of scientists travel light years just to make decisions dumber than people in slasher films
- The Gutter MonkeyOctober 17, 2024An inventive revival that breathes new life into a classic series, which had previously grown a bit moldy.
- Brad.Plex.October 13, 2024The return of Ridley Scott to the Alien franchise was supposed to herald a return to greatness for the franchise but instead falls flat. While the visuals are stunning, the plot and characters are some of the most non-sensical in the series.
