The finished film is shown at the Venice Film Festival, where it's considered a witty parody and awarded a Golden Lion.

    Mannix makes a bad movie using an over-the-hill actor to lose money. It wasn't lost on me that "Panic Button" is a bad low-budget movie that stars an over-the-hill actor in Maurice Chevalier. The movie wasn't funny, but maybe that was the point.
