- Manuel FrangisMarch 9, 2025Alright, so I finally got around to watching Orgazmo, and… yeah, this one’s a 2 out of 5 stars for me. I went in knowing it was a Trey Parker movie, so I expected some over-the-top humor and satire, but honestly? It just didn’t hit as well as it should have. First off, the premise is ridiculous—but in a way that could have worked. A Mormon missionary accidentally becoming a porn superhero? That’s got potential for some wild comedy. And sure, there are a few funny moments, especially if you like that classic South Park-style absurdity. But the problem is, most of the jokes feel like they’re just trying to be shocking rather than actually being clever or well-executed. The acting? Pretty much what you’d expect from a low-budget comedy. Trey Parker is decent in the lead role, but the rest of the cast is kind of forgettable. Some characters are funny at first, but their jokes get run into the ground so fast that they stop being entertaining. The whole thing just feels like a bunch of friends messing around with a camera—which, to be fair, it kind of was. Another issue is that the movie doesn’t really go anywhere. The plot is thin, and once you get the main joke, it just keeps repeating itself. It doesn’t build up to anything that memorable, and by the time it’s over, it feels like it could’ve been cut down to a 30-minute short instead of a full-length movie. Now, I will say, if you’re a hardcore fan of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s style, you might still get some enjoyment out of it. There are a few moments where their signature humor shines through, and you can kind of see hints of what they’d go on to do with South Park and Team America. But overall? It’s one of those movies that’s funny in theory but doesn’t hold up in execution. Would I watch it again? Probably not. It’s not the worst thing ever, but unless you’re really into Trey Parker’s early work, you’re not missing much.
