On The Wild Side

Directed by Giacomo Giorgi
2019    87mDocumentary
This is a documentary that aims to develop several topics related to the different types of hunting, including but not limited to: trophy, sport, indigenous, and subsistence hunting. Hunting is the act of trapping and killing animals. This documentary will illustrate the different methods of hunting throughout the planet and the will shine a light on the species who are most victimized - whether they be from land, sea, or air. The work carried against hunting by hunt saboteur organizations, anti-poaching entities, educational groups, as well as individuals will be highlighted in addition to local laws and law enforcement branches that are dedicated to monitor hunting and address poaching. The documentary will investigate and expose the effects that hunting has on local ecosystems, wildlife populations, and endangered species. On the Wild Side will attempt to analyze what drives people to kill for entertainment or sport. Additionally, we will bring to light the power that hunting lobbies have on law makers and the media. Most specifically we will show how their propaganda helps to create acceptance of hunting and the unfounded fear of predators. The goal of this documentary is to educate people about the realities of hunting and to act as a catalyst towards the eventual end of hunting.
