This is a fun and fast-paced Korean action-comedy starring Kim Woo-bin as a laid-back martial arts expert who ends up working with a probation officer to keep tabs on high-risk criminals. It sounds like an odd setup, but it totally works. The action scenes are slick and well-choreographed (you can tell Woo-bin put in the work), and there’s a nice mix of humor and heart. The movie doesn’t shy away from serious stuff like dealing with real threats and flaws in the justice system but it keeps things moving with charm and energy. It’s not the deepest film story-wise, and some of the tone shifts can feel a bit jarring. One minute you’re laughing, the next you’re dealing with some dark material. Still, it never drags and has a good message about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. Why watch it? ✔️ Cool martial arts fights ✔️ Likeable lead characters ✔️ A good balance of action and laughs ✔️ Easy to watch, entertaining from start to finish Rating: 5stars Great weekend watch, especially if you’re into martial arts flicks with a twist of comedy.

"Officer Black Belt" is an action-packed thriller starring Kim Woo-bin. Is it predictable? Yes? But is it a fun watch? Absolutely! Written by Jason Kim ("Midnight Runners," "Bloodhounds"), this film depicts what a man can do when given the chance.
Decider

Officer Black Belt definitely gets its fists and kicks in with an engaging Kim Woo-bin as Lee Jung-do, the world's most eager crimefighting martial arts enthusiast. But ultimately it's the film's heart that really shines through.
Common Sense Media

There's an odd disconnect between the tone of the movie and its content largely because the story focuses so heavily on child predators and protecting children from child abuse.
But Why Tho? A Geek Community

Officer Black Belt does a surprisingly good job balancing its fun opening with its darkly themed back half.
