Nyad Ratings & Reviews
- denismarchandSeptember 14, 2025Wow excellent!!!
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025Inspiring true story of perseverance. Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are both just incredible. Their dynamic as friends and partners is tangible and beautiful. Diana Nyad sets out to be the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida, 30 years after retiring from swimming (and 30 years after failing in her first attempt to do just that). I was really impressed by the direction. Each of Diana’s attempts is really well constructed, laying out the obstacles and challenges that the team will face with each attempt. It seamlessly mixes in archive footage of broadcast news for wonderful effect. I also loved the creative choice to have Bening sing over the songs on the soundtrack, as Diana would use songs to keep time and rhythm while swimming. Can’t really say enough good things about this. It’s a moving and crowd pleasing sports drama. Coming soon to Netflix, but if it happens to be playing anywhere near you, I highly recommend. Maybe I’m getting soft but it’s another film that had me tearing up multiple times throughout.
