No Escape
Directed by Martin CampbellIn the year 2022, a ruthless prison warden has created the ultimate solution for his most troublesome and violent inmates: Absolom, a secret jungle island where prisoners are abandoned and left to die. But Marine Captain John Robbins, convicted of murdering a commanding officer, is determined to escape the island in order to reveal the truth behind his murderous actions and clear his name.
- RichardOctober 5, 2025I first saw this as a rental and it delivered exactly what you wanted from a Friday night pick: jungle warfare, dystopian grit and Ray Liotta (RIP) in full survival mode. Back then, the ritual was sacred. You’d walk into the video store, scan the shelves, and spot that cover: Liotta looking intense, jungle backdrop and a tagline promising “No guards. No walls. No escape.” It had that unmistakable '90s B movie energy, big explosions, grimy sets and a plot that felt like Mad Max meets Fortress with a dash of Lord of the Flies. For a short (Next day return) rental it hit the mark: gritty, loud and just unpredictable enough to keep you hooked.
