Brian Cohen is an average young Jewish man, but through a series of ridiculous events, he gains a reputation as the Messiah. When he's not dodging his followers or being scolded by his shrill mother, the hapless Brian has to contend with the pompous Pontius Pilate and acronym-obsessed members of a separatist movement. Rife with Monty Python's signature absurdity, the tale finds Brian's life paralleling Biblical lore, albeit with many more laughs.

It's layered with surgically crafted moments that demand an educated audience, but never alienate with pomposity or pretension. On a flat, blind viewing it can feel overwhelming due to the dense wit, satire, and historical irony. My guess though is that if you put in the effort and have even a passing interest in religious indoctrination then it’s endlessly rewarding, with more to discover on every rewatch.

A timeless comedy that mocks our flaws and the absurdities of our existence.

Much better watching it as an adult with experience. Shows the idiocy of history to a tee. Hugely relevant to todays world too.

Every joke lands perfectly, and if you’re a Christian, the humor cuts even deeper. From start to finish, it's packed with laughs and some of the sharpest comedic dialogue in film history. And the rivalry between the People’s Front of Judea and the Judean People’s Front? Absolute comedic gold.

Life of Brian isn't only the best Monty Python movie, its one of the best movies of all time and certainly, almost definately the funniest. Its got the perfect blend of clever piss taking and British silliness that defines our country's cinema. From start to finish every scene is perfectly crafted and nothing happens without potential for laughter, but in that endearing 'laughing with you' way that works so well in British comedy. There aren't many movies where I say 'ooh, you couldn't make this today' but this really is one of them. No religion, colour or creed is free of being picked on and watching it today it feels just as, if not more relevant than it did years ago. There's nothing I can give but praise, overall they absolutly nailed it from start to finish. There was nothing like this before, there hasn't been since and we likely will never get another. Bravo to the Python boys.

I had a hard time getting through this movie, it was slow for me, so much so I fell asleep more than once. I just didn't find it funny.

has some iconic moments and jokes that really hit home, but some just aren't really that funny anymore. still, a good movie for a rainy day.

Not as good as it's predecessor, The Holy Grail, but it still has some of the funniest Python gags ever. Extremely offensive with some of the humor but that's typical Python of course. How can anyone find the "Biggus Dickus" scene anything but hilarious?
