Men Ratings & Reviews
- Kevin WardJuly 12, 2025I enjoyed this immensely. I will watch anything Jessie Buckley related, especially when her accent is allowed to come out some. She is excellent here and I really loved the dress she was wearing for most of the latter half of this film. Rory Kinnear is excellent in this as well playing multiple roles, all of them varying degrees of creepy. The film is really stunning looking from the scenic shots of the English Countryside, symmetrical imagery of tunnels and churches, and the red and green color palette made this a joy to see on the big screen. The horror elements worked really well. There are some incredibly tense scenes in the build up, and a finale that incorporates body horror that I can honestly say I’ve never seen before. I like many of the ideas explored here. I think the title, Men, is terrible and actually does a disservice to the film. I think an alternative title might have allowed viewers to more naturally explore some of themes presented. That title makes many of the thematic elements feel very on the nose and as a result it’s challenging to see what’s happening beyond the surface level. I do think there’s more to explore than just what the title suggests, particularly that ending. What exactly that is, I have no idea. But I have no idea what the fuck the end of Annihilation was supposed to mean either and I love that movie. I’m looking forward to watching this one again a few more times.
- Rowan KrzysiakMay 23, 2025It's like a solid episode of Doctor Who with some 18 rated body-horror thrown in. I went in blind and found it entertaining enough.
- sKRxPTidOctober 31, 2024Decent entertainment. But the sociopolitical undertones bring to life the narrative that all men are out to rape you and cut your body up into tiny little pieces. Keep it away from influencable daughters.
