A sweet and effective feel good film about a an aspiring singer (Ugyen) assigned to teach in the remote (understatement) town (overstatement) of Lunana….also there’s a yak in the classroom. It’s an uplifting story even if it treads familiar ground. Ugyen reluctantly decides to stay for the full term of his post. And as he acclimates to their simpler pace of life he sees an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of his students. Predictably, the biggest change occurs in Ugyen himself. It’s a cute film, made even cuter whenever Pem Zam is on screen.
