Lucky Blaze, a yearling, is purchased by Sir James Benson on the suggestion of his daughter, Rose. He shapes well, but the stable jockey, Cliff Ellis, who is in love with Rose, is forced to stand down in Lucky Blaze's first race, so that a more experienced jockey may have the mount. His chance, however, comes later, through the subterfuge of Rose, and his success allows Lucky Blaze's career to end triumphantly and the Benson fortune to be made secure.
