The screenwriter Sixten Kennebeck is going to Åre to collect material for a new film. The journalist Vivi Boström get to hear about this and calls Sixten to get an interview. Vivi edits a gossip column in an evening paper. When she is cut short by Sixten, she spreads a rumor that he will compete in a downhill race in Åre.
