And Letterboxd has this sitting at a 3.2?! Absolutely criminal. This movie deserved better. It got dumped into 2020, when everyone was locked inside and the world felt like an apocalypse already — worst release timing possible. Dylan O’Brien plays the most relatable post-apocalyptic hero: scared, weak, hiding from everything… until he decides he’s done being afraid and crosses monster country to find his childhood sweetheart. Along the way, he finds a dog. And that alone should have earned it a sequel. The acting? On point. The story? Heartfelt and adventurous. The visuals? Gorgeous. This isn’t just another monster movie — it’s an underrated gem that deserved more love.
