With an old coat and a cardboard suitcase Julia comes to conquer the capital. Her aunt Valentina helps her to get a job as a nurse, she will take care of Alla, a rich and capricious old woman who suffered a brain hemorrhage. After a while, Alla grows fond of her nurse and so does her son Pavel. Only Pavel's wife is not happy with Julia and she seems to be right.
