Where to Watch Last Action Hero
- ZokkiieApril 24, 2026Such a weird movie. It’s clearly trying to parody big dumb action movies while also being one, and it doesn’t always balance that very well. Some jokes land, some really don’t, but I kinda respect how committed it is to the bit. Arnold is fun as always, and when the movie leans into the absurdity it actually works. Messy, uneven, but way
- Little_NeoJune 17, 2025Absolutely one of the best parody movies of all time! Yes it is over the top, cheesy, and predictable in many ways. THAT'S THE POINT! It's a parody of all the crazy over the top action and action/comedy movies of the 80s and 90s which happens to star one of the greatest action movie stars as all time, so Arnold is literally parodying himself. If you are watching this movie as a standalone action/comedy then you are viewing it from the wrong perspective to begin with.
- Tom MajskiDecember 1, 2025It makes so much sense for Arnie to star in this. It almost wouldn't have worked had it been any other action star. He's always been a self referential actor and this feels like the final form, and its brilliant for it in all its meta glory. Danny is a kid hero we can all get behind. He just loves movies, action and all the fun around it, but accepts it all for the nonsense it is. That's what works so well here. Its a movie about movies that isnt concerned with pretense or 'high art'. Concept for the more primitive minded of us and I love it. If you're a fan of 80s action this is pretty much end game and you have to watch it. Just a bloody good time from start to finish. Oh and stand out appearance from Tom Noonan!
- RichardOctober 19, 2025This movie was ahead of its time, a meta action parody wrapped in blockbuster chaos, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jack Slater, the ultimate indestructible cop. A magic ticket transports a kid into the movie world, where clichés explode, one liners fly and the fourth wall isn’t just broken, it’s obliterated. Critics didn’t get it. Audiences expected Terminator 3, not a self aware deconstruction of 90's action tropes. But that’s the point, Arnold is literally parodying himself and the film gleefully mocks everything from villain monologues to “555” phone numbers. It’s loud, cheesy and brilliant if you’re watching it with the right lens. The tone swings wildly, but that’s part of the charm. It’s not just a parody, it’s a love letter to the genre, flaws and all. It’s fun, self aware and packed with nostalgia. The hate it got back then? Undeserved. Last Action Hero is a chaotic, clever, and underrated gem. I watched it, I laughed and I still quote “Want to be a farmer? Here have some acres!” with pride.
- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025A fun 90’s meta-action thriller from the director that helmed Die Hard and Predator, two of the greatest action movies of all time. Last Action Hero isn’t nearly on that level but it’s definitely a fun romp. Arnold gets to poke fun at all his action movie tropes as well as Hollywood films in general. All the women are gorgeous, all phone numbers start with 555. I also love the idea that the bad guys realize that the real world is the only place they can actually get away with murder. The kid is better than Eddie Furlong in Terminator 2, but not by much. I feel like if those movies were made today, casting director’s would do a much better job. Lots of fun cameos in this one, all of which went completely over my kids heads. My daughter asked if Little Richard was Michael Jackson. 😬😬. They sure know how to make me feel old.
