Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life Ratings & Reviews
- RichardNovember 9, 2025By 2003, the Tomb Raider franchise had settled into its leather holsters and was ready to double down. I caught this one in the cinema again, same sticky floors, same overenthusiastic subwoofer and left with that familiar mix of “what did I just watch?” and “I kinda loved it.” This time, Lara’s chasing Pandora’s Box across continents, punching sharks and flirting with Gerard Butler, who plays her ex with the emotional range of a damp sponge and the jawline of a Greek statue. The plot is pure globe trotting nonsense, but the locations are stunning and the action feels like someone handed Jan de Bont a travel budget and a crate of grenades. Angelina Jolie is still magnetic, still doing that posh accented smirk and still defying gravity in ways that would make Newton sigh. The film tries to be deeper, there’s talk of consequences, sacrifice, blah blah, but let’s be honest: we came for the stunts, the sass and the slow motion dives. I own the DVD, of course. It’s earned its spot next to the first one, not because it’s a masterpiece, but because it’s part of the era. A time capsule of early 2000's excess, where action films were loud glossy, and unapologetically ridiculous. Is it better than the first? Depends on your mood. But it’s definitely more polished, more globe hoppy and just self aware enough to wink at its own absurdity.
- ርልዪረFebruary 20, 2025I absolutely love this sequel, as much as I love the first one, Angelina, Gérard and some of the cast did a fantastic job. The visuals were awesome, the storyline was well written and The Shadow Guardian monsters, CGI was on point 👌🏾, the love scene between Terry and Lara was sexy as heck. However, my only criticism, is that I wished they'd picked a better actor, to portray the Villain (Reiss), as I thought his performance was dry, cringey and boring 😴. He didn't make the character intimidating and I couldn't take him seriously (there were times I laughed my butt off). This film is one of my childhood favourites and I'd definitely watch it a thousand times ❤. Lastly, I do wish they did a 3rd movie, as Angelina slayed the role and the Franchise was and is amazing 👏🏾.
- plexideanSeptember 15, 2025There is something about that 90's and 00's era of adventures. And this is just like that. Watch if you enjoy 90's adventures.
