Krakatoa: East of Java Ratings & Reviews
- atmvaAugust 9, 2025A must for Oscar-completists and students of 1960s practical VFX work; otherwise, consider yourself warned.
- Charles LondonFebruary 25, 2025I had the extreme fortune of growing up just two blocks from our town's only movie house, a classic auditorium theatre. "Krakatoa" was one of countless films that I saw on that big screen as a boy, and it looked and sounded incredible, especially the scene of the hot-air-balloon ride into the mouth of the volcano. Yes, many critics panned the movie, and Krakatoa is actually west (not east) of Java. Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable adventure especially when viewed on as large a screen as possible and in stereo. As a side note, it's a good opportunity to see gone-far-too-soon actor, Sal Mineo.
