In 17th century Bulgaria, under Ottoman oppression, Karaivan witnesses the brutal murder of his wife by four men. To shield his daughter Maria and seek vengeance, he raises her as a son, instilling survival skills. As Maria thirsts for freedom, her internal struggle deepens.
