Kong: Skull Island Ratings & Reviews
- RyezooFebruary 15, 2025So I thought it would only be fair to rewatch Kong completely sober so I did. I ended up enjoy the action set pieces tremendously more and really digging John C. Rileys story. What was more glaringly this go around was how hollow the characters were and that 75% of dialogue coming out of their mouths was exposition. I still prefer Godzilla more, but am looking forward to the movie where monsters collide.
- mickerdooJuly 8, 2025Probably my favorite reboot monster movie. Stunning effects, great action sequences and creative monsters. Plus Brie Larson and John C. Reilly.
- Mister ArnMay 24, 2025They lost me when I saw how many helicopters left the ship. More Kong and less everybody else!
- Robert ClarkeMarch 16, 2025Kong: Skull Island – A Thrilling, Visually Stunning Adventure I just finished watching Kong: Skull Island, and I have to say, I genuinely enjoyed it. It’s a visually spectacular film that keeps you entertained from start to finish, and I’d happily rate it 4 out of 5. While it’s not without its flaws, the sheer scale and sense of adventure more than make up for them. First of all, the visuals are absolutely mind-blowing. The lush, untamed landscapes of Skull Island are stunning, and the CGI used to bring Kong to life is top-notch. I found myself completely immersed in the film’s strange and otherworldly setting, and every encounter with Kong was both breathtaking and intense. The battles he gets into are jaw-dropping – they’re choreographed in a way that makes you feel the raw power and brutality of this massive creature. The ensemble cast was another highlight for me. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and John C. Reilly delivered solid performances that added layers to the story. While the characters themselves might not be the most complex, each actor brought something unique to the table. I particularly enjoyed John C. Reilly’s comedic relief – it was smartly placed and never felt overdone. What really caught my attention, though, was how the film balanced its action scenes with moments of eerie tension. There’s this constant sense of danger lurking around every corner, which made the quieter scenes just as suspenseful as the full-on monster battles. And let’s not forget the great soundtrack – the mix of ’70s rock music gave the film an extra bit of personality that I loved. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the plot could have been tightened up in places. Some elements felt rushed, and a few of the characters could have been fleshed out more deeply. That said, I don’t think this film set out to be a deep character drama – it’s a monster movie, and it understands exactly what it needs to deliver within its genre. In the end, Kong: Skull Island delivers big-time on action, spectacle, and sheer fun. It’s a movie that knows what it is and leans fully into the chaos and beauty of its premise. If you’re a fan of monster films or just want to kick back with a thrilling adventure, it’s definitely worth watching. A solid 4/5 from me!
