- KGM SOSAOctober 9, 2025Jumper (2008) was an 8 out of 10 (4/5 on Plex) for me, although it probably deserves a 7. I’m just a sucker for cool superpowered non-comic book movies & series like this such as Hancock, Chronicle, etc - that kind of slick, original sci-fi action with its own rules. This one isn’t a deep or intricate story by any means, but it’s a fun as hell, dope ass, visually stunning film that’s exciting & instantly makes you wish you had this power yourself. It’s definitely the kind of movie I’ll throw on as a comfort watch when I’m sick or just need something entertaining in the background, one of those easy rewatches that never gets old because it’s just pure escapism. Fun fact: Jumper was actually based on a 1992 novel by Steven Gould, there were plans for a whole cinematic universe before the idea was scrapped, meaning we almost got a full series exploring other “Jumpers” around the world. Also I do believe we got a spin off series called Impulse if I remember correctly (it’s on my watchlist but haven’t started it yet)
- vsqzDecember 9, 2025“Jumper” is a fun, fast-paced sci-fi action film about a guy who can teleport anywhere, leading to thrilling chases and global adventures. Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson deliver solid performances, with impressive effects and excitement that make it rewatchable. It’s not deep, but perfect for escapist entertainment, flawed plot aside, it earns four stars for its energy and inventiveness.
- ApocMoraApril 7, 2026One of my all time favorites. I love the book series this was based on, and while I would have preferred more than one movie, or even a short one or two series show exploring the concepts, I am still glad we got a pretty solid stand alone movie that did a good job overall. Fun movie, cool concepts, good selection of actors. Could have had some more inclusion of the powers implications for sci-fi lovers like me, but I get they wanted something a bit more character driven and actiony.
- ZokkiieMarch 10, 2026Not perfect, but highly entertaining. It has that early-2000s blockbuster energy where the main goal is just to be cool and keep things moving, and it mostly works. The idea behind it is really fun and leads to some stylish moments that still hold up pretty well. It definitely feels like there was room to dive deeper into the world and characters, but the movie never slows down long enough for that to become a big problem. It’s fast, slick, and easy to watch, the kind of film you can throw on when you want something light and entertaining. Honestly, it’s a bit underrated. It’s not trying to be a masterpiece, just a fun sci-fi action ride, and it succeeds at that more than people give it credit for.
- DisentOctober 30, 2025Solid action movie & highly, highly under rated - i remember liking it at the time and after a recent rewatch it's even better than i remember, compared to most of the crap that gets released these days it's actually a really watchable film, not designed for second screen attention spans. Action and special effects still hold and this had great potential to build a franchise, if it wasn't for the Star Wars prequel hate at the time, i think this would have been better received. It's no masterpiece, but it's a solid fun action adventure piece with some great location shots. 15%? what were you critics smoking
- Mister ArnMay 21, 2025"Jumper" presents a captivating concept where a teenager acquires a superpower, yet the narrative execution falls short, leaning heavily on the action sequences to showcase the hero's abilities. This film exemplifies potential unfulfilled, primarily due to its overreliance on CGI effects instead of developing a compelling story.
