I’d recommend Juice as a surprise watch. Seeing it for the first time, I was impressed by how different it felt from other early ’90s crime dramas. It’s a tight, well-paced story about four friends in Harlem whose lives take a dark turn after a robbery goes wrong. The plot is simple, but the way it builds tension—especially around Bishop’s growing obsession with power—keeps you hooked. What really stood out to me is that it doesn’t rely on excessive gore; instead, it captures the danger and moral choices of the streets in a way that feels authentic to the time. The performances, especially from a young Tupac Shakur, Omar Epps and Samuel L. Jackson, give the film an edge and emotional weight that still holds up today.
