"Jabberwocky" has trouble finding its identity. It fails to utilize the absurd humor that propelled "Holy Grail" to success. Unfortunately, its plot is written in a slapstick comedy style and needs more details, resulting in an underwhelming story. This film lacks wit and tells a foolish tale that elicits more sadness than laughter.

It’s not a bad film, just a forgettable one. I’ve tortured myself a handful of times with Jabberwocky because I like Brazil and 12 Monkeys, but I think this was the last go round. At first I sit and think “have I seen this?” but then after a few minutes I remember I have, and that it’s a dumb movie. It’s been said often and with great force that a real American man can only handle so much of that limey Monty Python humor, and I do believe I’ve finally met the limit. Sheesh.

The Bosch-style vision of the Middle Ages, interpreted in Monty Python style, produced a spectacular effect. At moments, it drags a little (especially in the second half of the film), but it is still great entertainment.
