Maika Monroe delivers a standout performance as Jay, perfectly capturing the fear, vulnerability, and determination of someone grappling with an unimaginable horror. Her nuanced portrayal grounds the film’s surreal, dreamlike atmosphere, making Jay’s plight feel all too real. Director David Robert Mitchell cleverly blurs the lines of time and reality with an uncanny 80s aesthetic mixed with modern elements. The characters use smart devices, yet they drive classic cars and live in neighborhoods reminiscent of a bygone era. This disjointed sense of time adds to the film’s otherworldly, unsettling tone, keeping viewers constantly off-balance. - cferaco22. September 2025What if Dirk Diggler’s legacy wasn’t adult cinema, but a supernatural case of herpes that stalks you forever? That’s It Follows in a nutshell: sleep with the wrong person and suddenly a creepy, slow-walking figure in grandma’s nightgown is always on your tail. The synth soundtrack pounds like a fever, the camera makes you paranoid, and the whole thing plays like the scariest “wrap it up” PSA ever made. Stylish, creepy, and like herpes… it never goes away.
- carter28825. Februar 2026It Follows is a huge disappointment and not worth the hype. The film does have a really cool concept that is kind of wasted in this film. The cast is also really good in this film with them playing likeable characters. There are some really creative shots as well. And the score is incredible and might just be one of the greatest horror scores of all time. The film also does drag for me a lot and really pulls you out of the film. Another problem I have is that the movie really goes nowhere and is kind of a waste of time. But my biggest issue with this movie is all the disgusting imagery that absolutely makes the film 10 times worse. So overall a mediocre film that could have been great but instead wasted on it with some really disgusting imagery.

Die 19-Jährige Jay hat Sex mit Hugh, ihrem Date. Doch hätte sie vorher gewusst, was der Beischlaf für Folgen haben wird, wäre sie nicht zu dem jungen Mann auf den Rücksitz geklettert. Als sie, noch benommen vom Chloroform und an einen Stuhl gefesselt, wieder aufwacht, erklärt ihr Hugh reumütig, dass er einen verstörenden Hintergedanken hatte: Er sei von einem Geist verfolgt worden, den er loswerden und zu diesem Zweck transferieren wollte – ein Ziel, dass er mit dem Sex erreicht habe.
