Interceptor Ratings & Reviews
- jackmeatSeptember 5, 2025My quick rating - 4.5/10. Currently, number 2 streaming on Netflix. Just FYI, there is no way to take over the entire country's EBS like this. It isn't even easy to do one region, and last I was in a headend, it had to be done by hand. Was that Chris Hemsworth I just saw playing a TV salesman (an extra)???? LOL Anyways, I tried to like this one as much as I could. It had the makings of a decent popcorn flick and touched upon a subject that isn't talked about much. The missile defense system. But instead of focusing much on this often-debated topic of whether the USA even has a reliable MDS, instead, we are given a cliche-ridden action flick that keys on our reluctant hero (Elsa Pataky) and the evil bad guy (Luke Bracey). Don't feel bad, I said "Who?" when looking it up. The two of them play cat and mouse the whole movie, with her being locked in the operations room, defending him from getting in. Then reverse that somehow (no spoilers) and make sure to get in the "ruthless killer but tie these good guys to chairs" scenario for no good reason. That is the kind of trite this movie is just loaded with. The problem with absolutely dogging this movie is the fact that it looks pretty damn good, and there is nothing wrong with the acting going into the characters. There is some backstory to the female hero, which I am sure you could conjure up in your head right now, and this is also handled pretty well. The good elements kept piling up until you then see a scene or hear a bit of dialogue that is just so terrible that you forget the positive even existed. It is most likely better that I waited a few days to type this up, since immediately after, I would've hit a 3. I will bet this isn't number 2 anymore on their streamer list, so proceed with apprehension. This just isn't good, especially for the potential they had, and wasted the whole idea on a poor game of chess with unrealistic action scenes from top to bottom. Then again, you could find far worse.
- flavo43November 23, 2025Interceptor is one of those films where the individual ideas aren’t terrible, but somehow the whole package just doesn’t come together. The story itself isn’t bad—a lone officer defending a critical missile interception platform has plenty of potential—and the lead character’s military background is genuinely interesting. But when you put the pacing, dialogue, performances, and uneven action sequences together, it never quite clicks. Tonally, it bounces between earnest military thriller and over-the-top action, without finding a comfortable balance. For me, that inconsistency kept pulling me out of the experience. Oddly enough, the one thing I did take away from it was the underlying concept: maybe the U.S. should consider building something like this in real life, if only as a last line of defence. Just… definitely not following the movie’s operational examples. In the end, Interceptor feels more like a rough draft of a better film than a complete, satisfying one.
