I had to reach my arm, shoulder-deep, into the sticky cinemussy, blindly grasping amongst detritus that has probably been sitting there since the original film came out in 1997. That was my favorite part of this movie.

I already enjoyed the original series back in the 90s (alongside the Scream franchise), and I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for the “teen horror” genre. Of course, you can’t expect high cinema here—and honestly, I don’t really understand some of the harsher critics. Maybe I’m just “too simple-minded,” but if that’s the case, so be it—it doesn’t hurt me. 😉 The film actually worked really well for me. The story was already familiar, so anyone expecting something radically new might be a little naïve. Acting-wise, it’s not an award-winning performance—but hey, it’s absolutely watchable. I never felt bored at any point. What really grabbed me again was the small-town American setting. There’s just something about that atmosphere that I like—probably because it reminds me of my own youth. All in all, a very enjoyable ride for a fan of the genre, and definitely worth the watch if you have a soft spot for 90s-style teen horror.
- ርልዪረAugust 26, 2025If you have seen 1 and 2 of this franchise (I gotta be careful what I say regarding spoilers) then this is a great film for the nostalgic vibes. I enjoyed the new casts and I loved how daring they got with this film (hard to explain without ruining the film). I screamed at a few moments, not in fear but in some nostalgic iconic moments. I also LOVED the fact there was an epic mid-credit scene. If you haven't seen I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, I recommend watching them first before this one. This film will keep you guessing throughout, however because you guess so much and through the rounds of cast, you would at one point caught the killer in your head. I can totally understand the divide in this film but I loved the fact they went to that divide and dared up this legacy franchise.

It’s the hoops that it jumps through to try to connect to the ‘97 film where it kind of falls apart, especially that final, final twist. Has a couple decent kills. The dream sequence fake out is such a stretch, but I still love it because SMG 😍. In all honesty she should have been a much bigger part of this sequel.
