- "THE MOVIE FANATIC"May 1, 2026The House On Haunted Hill 1999 remake is one of my favourite horror remakes of all time!! I absolutely love the whole aesthetic, the colour palette, production design and its the lighting & cinematography that really sets it off for me. The visuals are brilliant the only criticism I have on this film, is that some of the special effects of the ghosts don't hold up; its mainly in the last act of the film but other than that I don't have any issues or anything that I dislike about it. I loved the fact that they gave Vincent Price a huge wink and a nod, by having the character that he played in the 1959 Classic last name as Price I thought that was awesome. The bit that never fails to make me laugh was when Chris Kattans character Watson Pritchett says to Stephen Price "God damn it. You give me my goddam cheque right now because I want it. So you give it now...I'm serious" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that always gets a big chuckle out of me everytime I go back and rewatch it. And finally the Dark Castle era of horror is my favourite era in horror; and House On Haunted Hill 1999 is right up there as one of my favourites from that era. I absolutely love this movie...it was one of the first horror movies that I ever saw, I have so much nostalgia for it and I always will.
