Hostile Advances: The Kerry Ellison Story Ratings & Reviews

I worked on this film as an office PA in Toronto in 1995. I had the pleasure of driving actor Victor Garber from his local accommodation to his insurance medical appointment (to confirm that he was in good enough health to act in the movie and be insured by the production) and then back to his hotel. He was very friendly and a super nice guy. He sat in the front seat and noticed that I had a Starbucks travel mug. At the time, Starbucks was only in Vancouver in Canada. We chatted about coffee and the possibility of Starbucks coming to Toronto and wouldn’t that be great. Hanging with Mr. Garber for a half hour or so was memorable, but the highlight for me on this production was my telephone conversation with Karen Allen (yes, Marion Ravenwood herself - and have you seen John Carpenter's "Starman"? Come on!). She called the production office and needed assistance navigating Pearson Airport to meet the driver that production had sent to pick her up. She seemed a bit stressed, so I stayed on the phone until she found the driver. She was relieved and expressed gratitude for my help. The film itself covers an important subject, but unfortunately it is quite melodramatic and cheesy at times. Garber plays a super creep and the script lets you know he's a creep from moment one.
