- mickerdoo4d agoDespite an unbelievably good voice cast, this one just falls short. I lost interest. Probably due to story and characters.

- Manuel FrangisApril 27, 2025I just watched Horton Hears a Who! and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. This movie was a really fun surprise. It’s bright, funny, and full of energy, but it also has a lot of heart. It takes the classic Dr. Seuss story and turns it into a full adventure that feels just right for both kids and adults. It keeps that whimsical Seuss vibe while also throwing in some modern jokes that actually land most of the time. Jim Carrey voices Horton, and he is the perfect choice. He brings so much energy, randomness, and heart to the character. Horton is just a sweet elephant who truly believes in protecting the tiny Whos living on a speck of dust, even when everyone around him thinks he is crazy. Carrey gives him the perfect mix of goofy and sincere. You can laugh at all his ridiculous moments but still completely root for him. Steve Carell voices the Mayor of Whoville, and he is awesome too. He plays him as nervous, overwhelmed, but super determined to protect his town once he realizes how much danger they are in. The scenes where Horton and the Mayor are trying to communicate across the different worlds are actually really touching. You get to see how both characters are under pressure to do the right thing, even when it seems impossible. The animation is really good too. Whoville looks incredible — bright colors, crazy designs, and so much imagination packed into every corner. The jungle where Horton lives is just as detailed, full of weird creatures and goofy little background moments that make everything feel alive. It is super true to the spirit of Dr. Seuss, and you can tell the animators had a blast bringing it all to life. The humor is a mix of classic slapstick and clever jokes. Some jokes are just funny because of how weird they are — like Horton’s imaginary adventures or the Whos freaking out over every little thing — and some are actually really smart. There is a lot of physical comedy, which fits perfectly with Jim Carrey’s style, and a lot of random moments that will make you laugh just because of how unexpected they are. What I really liked is how the movie sticks to the original message of the book: “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” It is about standing up for what is right, even when nobody believes you, and valuing every life no matter how tiny. That message hits just as hard today, and the movie does a good job of weaving it into all the craziness without making it feel forced or cheesy. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 is because a few parts feel a little stretched out. There are a couple of scenes that could have been tighter or a little less loud, especially in the middle. It does not ruin anything, but you do feel the movie trying to fill a bit more time than it probably needed. Still, that is a pretty small issue compared to everything the movie does right. I give Horton Hears a Who! 4 out of 5 stars because it is a funny, sweet, and beautifully animated movie that respects the original Dr. Seuss story while making it its own. It has a great message, fun characters, and enough crazy moments to keep you smiling the whole way through. Overall Horton Hears a Who! is a colorful, heartfelt adventure that reminds you to believe in the little things and to never give up, even when the whole world thinks you are wrong. Definitely one of the better Dr. Seuss movies out there.
