One of the worst movies I have ever seen, and definitely the worst movie of this year for me so far. This is one of those movies where it's a bit bizarre how it is even sold in the wild. I can not in my wildest imagination believe that anyone, of any age, with any interests that this could appeal to. And I don't say this lightly. I mean the movie just fails in every aspect. It's so poorly made (acting, camera work, pacing etc) that it almost felt like a parody of sorts. After the first 20-30 minutes I thought it was some sort of art-movie because of this, and that I just didn't quite "get it" yet. But as the movie went on (and on and on - I swear this thing feels like it's 4 hours long), I slowly realized that the movie was just that awful. And after that realization, the movie got downright painful to watch. I barely made it through the last 30 minutes. It's also not one of those movies where it's a "so bad it's good" type of thing. Because of it's subject matter and because of it's complete disregard to any form of quality, it just got really annoying. If it tried to be funny and/or artsy, it simply missed the mark by an immense amount. And frankly, considering the subject matter of the movie, it's pretty astonishing how it does not manage to convey even a slight sense of a coherent or relevant message anywhere. Honestly, I don't even remember the last time I saw such a pointless movie. It's also not a horror movie by any sense of the word. It didn't even have scares, not even in the simplest of form. Actually, I'm not even sure what genre this should count as, considering the almost non-existent content in it. Oh, and I have to do this; even the damn sound is awful. And I don't care about sound. Oh well. I will end this by saying that it's not often I truly believe that I have "wasted my time" with a movie. Almost always there is something to be had for it, even if it is sometimes laughter. But this time I can actually say that I feel like I lost a little bit of my life. I strongly urge anyone to avoid this garbage of a "movie".

#Horror isn't a fun watch, and what it says is hardly profound.
Philadelphia Inquirer

Despite its many drawbacks, Subkoff's film deserves to be seen, if only for its wildly imaginative use of the medium and for the urgency of its message, which is dire, bleak - and unforgettable.
TheWrap

It's... made with verve, style, and sparing gore by Tara Subkoff, whose overwrought concern for kids today is more than made up for by her promising debut's grimly mysterious mood and flair for the hipster grotesque.
Slant Magazine
Chuck Bowen
A blunt satire of the dehumanization inherent in social media that also gets off on said detachment.

#horror is a film that tried very hard to be cool and relevant ... but it only manages to bore and annoy.
Assignment X
Abbie Bernstein
#Horror looks amazing and it has some acute observations. It just seems to have more thematic and narrative ambition than it does coherence and running time.

There is a method to Tara Subkoff's directorial madness, and what she has put to film is nothing if not bizarrely, indelibly auspicious.

#Horror fails to even work as an cult oddity.
Paste Magazine

#Horror is a prime example of style over substance.
We Got This Covered
Matt Donato
#Horror has plenty to say about cyberbullying, but it gets lost in frantic editing and bitchy stereotypes along the way.

First-time director Subkoff shoots even the mundane sniping in horror mode, and makes the hallucinations pay vivid dividends:
Los Angeles Times
Mark Olsen
"#Horror" is a bit like someone who is genuinely scared of something but tries to laugh it off.
New York Times
Jeannette Catsoulis
For all its bursts of violence and descending-guillotine sound effects, "#Horror" feels driven more by social commentary than by outright terror.
