It's no Tangled or Frozen but it's a fun family animation that my kids and I enjoyed.

A story full of color, energy, and simple emotions, aimed mainly at a younger audience. While visually captivating with its vibrant palette and dynamic animation, narratively it remains rather predictable and safe. The theme of expropriation and takeover of the planet by a clumsy alien race is surprisingly unsettling - the younger me might have been scared. The film carries a positive message about acceptance, empathy, and the need to understand others, though for adults it may feel like an overly simplified lesson. The alien race, the Boov, is an interesting concept, though as a species they come across as too uniform, lacking distinct traits or individuality. On the plus side, their quirky, humorous way of speaking adds a bit of charm to the world. It’s an easy watch overall, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that it lacks the spark of magic that defines DreamWorks’ best animations.
