Hereditary Ratings & Reviews
- Allie TranMay 30, 2025This is what I would consider a perfect horror movie. I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024Hereditary is a family drama disguised as a horror film. Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.
- Evan MayJuly 30, 2025Harrowing. The true terrors are in the first half. The second half tells a story to make sense of them. If only generational demons were so simple. The explanation is inexplicable. The result is multitonal, a partly comical fever dream dressed in visual discomfort. Yet the dread lingers past the runtime. Every scene holds attention. But the real artists were Steve Newburn and his team creating all those miniatures.
- Scott beardDecember 9, 2025⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hereditary* A Horror That Stays With You…. Hereditary isn’t just a horror film, it’s a full-on psychological punch to the face. In the best way… and also the worst. It gets under your skin from the first minute and doesn’t let go. The atmosphere is heavy, the acting is unreal, and some scenes stick in your brain whether you want them there or not. Toni Collette deserves a trophy just for surviving that performance. The whole film feels uncomfortable in a very real, human way, which is why it works so well. It doesn’t rely on cheap jump scares. It creeps up on you slowly, then hits you with moments that make you sit there thinking “what did I just watch?” It’s one of the few modern horrors that actually feels original. Disturbing, clever, and unforgettable. Not the kind of movie you watch before bed unless you enjoy nightmares doing parkour in your head.
- P. LoganJanuary 27, 2025No horror movie has better instilled that feeling of impending dread than Hereditary.

- tellumAugust 18, 2025I did not enjoy this as much as other horror fans, for me it was very plodding and the ending I didn’t care for. But there is some very disturbing imagery that is burned in my brain, and relatable realistic terror as well as supernatural terror. For bigger fans of the genre this is still a good movie.
- Halim MellickJune 27, 2025Ari Aster has to be one of my favourite modern directors. I consider him to be a modern day Kubrick. Stunning visual storytelling with setups and payoffs that really require a re-viewing to appreciate. The acting is fantastic, particularly Toni Colette’s performance. Ari uses horror to deal with the struggles of a dysfunctional family dynamic which is something I think we all can relate to.
- justi7607November 2, 2025Definitely one of the best Modern Horror movies...
- StairwaytothestarsAugust 21, 2025TERRORIFIC! Great atmosphere and acting with the amazing Toni Collette. After seeing the ending, I may need therapy!

- Casper HørningNovember 12, 2025I 'm entertained from start to finish🙌🏻
- CovetteNovember 6, 2025I flip flopped through the whole movie not knowing how it would land. It is overly lengthy but it’s worth a watch for horror fans. The second half of the movie was enjoyable from some tense scenes and watching the story unfold.
