Cast of Hereditary
Hereditary Ratings & Reviews
- Evan May1d agoHarrowing. The true terrors are in the first half. The second half tells a story to make sense of them. If only generational demons were so simple. The explanation is inexplicable. The result is multitonal, a partly comical fever dream dressed in visual discomfort. Yet the dread lingers past the runtime. Every scene holds attention. But the real artists were Steve Newburn and his team creating all those miniatures.
- WerusiaJuly 18, 2025Phenomenal but I can't watch it a second time, too disturbing.
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024Hereditary is a family drama disguised as a horror film. Given the brutality of these experiences and how they are captured, Ari Aster either turned his personal experience into a screen story, imagined such grievous trauma in his mind, or combined both truth and fiction. Hereditary is very often a hard watch, but it always feels honest.
- Halim MellickJune 27, 2025Ari Aster has to be one of my favourite modern directors. I consider him to be a modern day Kubrick. Stunning visual storytelling with setups and payoffs that really require a re-viewing to appreciate. The acting is fantastic, particularly Toni Colette’s performance. Ari uses horror to deal with the struggles of a dysfunctional family dynamic which is something I think we all can relate to.
- Allie TranMay 30, 2025This is what I would consider a perfect horror movie. I remember watching this from home and having the crap scared out of me during that *SPOILER* one scene with the mom floating on the ceiling. Not only does it excel in its scariness, but has excellent acting, writing, everything.
- P. LoganJanuary 27, 2025No horror movie has better instilled that feeling of impending dread than Hereditary.
- schrodingerMay 23, 2025The last movies that really left me deeply disturbed afterwards in a way similar to this one were The Ring and The Grudge, both of which I watched on VHS. The slow burn and subtle reveal of horror as the edges are pulled away from reality was masterfully done here. Superb acting as well.
- buford fernsbyApril 15, 2025one of the few horror movies that deserve the hype they get. useless parents, my kids aint never goin outside.
- ayayronApril 6, 2025Genuinely terrifying at times and full of dread
- RyezooFebruary 14, 2025Wow. So well done and unsettling. Toni Collette’s performance is amazing. She’s tasked with so many emotions and events and it all works. The rest of the cast is believable as well. This film is twisted. Having not seen any trailers I had no idea where this was going to go. Events that happen are unpredictable and unsettling. This being the directors first film is incredible. It’s so well shot and he knows when to show and not to create ultimate tension. He doesn’t rely on jump scares! Theirs things put into the frames in some scenes that send chills down my spine. I’m on board with the crazy last ten minutes, I just wanted something a little more fulfilling. I still loved this fucked up movie!
- Berlin.January 25, 2025Masterpiece.
- BemaniBryanJanuary 24, 2025ICONIC. The acting was so good that it made up for the 900 unnecessary ominous cut scenes.
- stokeyTXOctober 24, 2024One of the most disturbing movies I've seen. This movie has stayed with me and I'm not sure if that's a good thing hahaha
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 12, 2024A pretty different movie from the usual horror stuff. The ending is controversial but I personally love it.
