- Daiken Seige6d agoI'm giving this a 3 out of 5. Now by any means this is a great super hero movie. My wife loves it and like most other doesn't get the hate. So let me explain a little bit since I'm a huge Lantern fan (and I don't mean that shit TV Show). 1. The suit is horrible. I get what they were trying to do but even for it's time it looked like a bad PS2 cut scene. 2. The big bad. Parallax was done horrible. For those who don't know in the DC universe there are God like creatures that represent the emotional spectrum. Will - Ion who looks like a whale, Fear Parallax which looks like a demonic bug, Rage (Red) The Butcher a bull, Adara Hope (Blue) a Bird, Love (Sapphire) Predator weird bug, Greed (Orange) Ophidian a snake or Ell looking thing, and Compassion (purple) a Tenticle Monster thing. Each of these Entities can possess someone and make them almost God like. In the Emerald Twilight story line Parallax possess Hal and he destroys the Corps and the Guardians. This story line was crap and just murdered one of the best stories in comics. Also Hector was just.. No... 3. The story that they did was a mix of many stories for the GL and it didn't work or fit. Abin was killed by Atrocitus that was part of a prophecy that was the start of the Blackest Night and the war of color in which the other Corps were brought into the Light for the first time. (hehe light... 8p). Also Parallax was just held in nothing he was part of the central batter in Oa where he was imprisoned. That is why in the early days the GL only weekness was the color Yellow. 4. Sinestro was poorly done. Now the part was well acted but the char was wrote bad. Sinestro is a brutal psychopath. He was always at the Guardians throats cause he thought they weren't doing enough to protect everything. It's the main reason he left the Corp and started his own. The Yellow Lanterns are called the Sinestro Corps. Please before that he is the main one that trained Hal. They over looked Hals training and just made him good at everything. I could go on and in about what this movie screwed up. Hell I'll be surprised if anyone reads all of this lol. But I agree this isn't a bad super hero movie. And this is sooo much better then Lanterns was omg that show was crap. So yeah. Not sure how to end this now..... I'm the comicstorian so you don't have to....

- flavo43November 23, 2025Green Lantern should have been an easy win. Hal Jordan is one of my favourite heroes—fearless, noble, and built for big-screen cosmic storytelling. Ryan Reynolds is an actor I genuinely enjoy, funny, charismatic, and capable of far more range than he often gets credit for. Coming off the success of Nolan’s Batman films, you’d think this would be another major step forward for DC. So… what happened? The movie we got was a baffling mess on so many levels. The tone was inconsistent, the plot felt stitched together, and the CGI suit and effects made everything look cartoonish instead of epic. Even Reynolds, as much as I like him, was lost inside a script that didn’t know whether it wanted to be serious space opera or goofy comedy. The result was so disappointing that it practically banished Green Lantern from film for years. A tragic waste of a great character with endless potential.

The world-building feels thin, the tone’s kind of messy, and it never really taps into that big, cosmic DC vibe it should’ve had. You can see hints of a better movie in there, which almost makes it more frustrating. It plays things a bit too safe instead of really going for it. At least Mark Strong absolutely nails it—perfect casting as Sinestro. He’s got the presence and feels straight out of the comics.
