Paolo, a depressed playwright moves to a house which has been rented by his father Carlo as well, without each knowing about the other. The girl however falls in love with the more interesting Carlo. Unfortunately one day Carlo learns he has cancer and decides to leave with the only woman who has always stood by him: Laura , his wife.
