Underrated gem often ignored due to cheesy and low budget effects. The Story is simple and cliched - I get it - A mysterious ancient artifact on mars releases a zombie making dust storm turning all the inhabitants who comes into contact into mindless zombies. And the focus is on paramilitary group of 5 to 6 people lead by Natasha Henstridge and a rogue Ice cube. Also all this fiasco takes place on a terra formed mars. What follows is a 90's action romp where you see action and motor cycle gang bad guys. Also there is a young Jason Stathom in what probably his only role with hair on his head. So if you are into 90s action with zombies and ancient space magic then this is the movie for you. And yes this movie is your only chance to see hairs on Jason Stathoms head.

They called it a mashup of Assault on Precinct 13 and Escape from New York and they weren’t wrong. It’s Carpenter recycling his own movies, but with a Martian twist and yes, it’s cheesy, but that’s part of the charm. Ghosts of Mars is a flawed but fun Carpenter movie. It’s loud, messy and totally committed to its own madness.

Almost charming in its complete stupidity. A career low point for so many otherwise serviceable actors. Feels like a throwback to 1970s grindhouse sci-fi, in which lies its only possible saving grace as entertainment.
