Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties Ratings & Reviews

- Manuel FrangisMarch 26, 2025I just watched Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This sequel is just as fun as the first one, maybe even funnier in some parts. It takes Garfield out of his usual setting and drops him into something completely new, and the result is a movie that’s packed with laughs, great moments, and that same classic Garfield attitude I loved in the first movie. Bill Murray is once again the voice of Garfield, and like before, he completely owns the role. His sarcastic delivery, lazy confidence, and constant complaints about everything around him are what make Garfield so iconic, and Murray delivers all of that perfectly again. Whether Garfield is lounging in a castle or causing chaos by accident, every line from him is golden. This time the story moves to England, which is a fun change of pace. Garfield accidentally gets swapped with a royal cat named Prince, who looks exactly like him. While Garfield ends up living like royalty, Prince ends up in Jon’s care without anyone realizing the switch. It is a fun twist on The Prince and the Pauper, and it works way better than I expected. Watching Garfield try to fit into this fancy castle while everyone treats him like a king is hilarious. Prince adds a new layer to the story, and he’s surprisingly likable too. He’s more proper and polite compared to Garfield, but he still has a little bit of attitude. Seeing the two of them in opposite worlds is fun because it lets both characters react to stuff in totally different ways. The way they handle their new lives is what keeps the story fresh and entertaining. Jon is back, played again by Breckin Meyer, and once again he’s the awkward but lovable guy who somehow ends up right in the middle of all the chaos. He travels to England to propose to Liz, who’s played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, and both of them do a great job in their roles even if they’re more in the background this time. The focus is definitely more on Garfield and Prince, but the human characters still help keep things grounded. The setting really helps this one stand out. The big castle, the gardens, the staff—it all feels like a cartoon version of royal life, and it fits Garfield’s personality perfectly. He gets pampered, eats like a king, and causes so much trouble without even trying. At the same time, Prince is learning how to live a more normal life with Odie and Jon, and it leads to some fun and sweet moments. The humor is right on point, just like the first movie. There’s slapstick, one-liners, silly misunderstandings, and that dry Garfield commentary that makes everything funnier. The animals in the castle are great too, and they each bring their own personality into the mix. Watching them work together with Garfield is a lot of fun. I give Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties 5 out of 5 stars because it does exactly what a sequel should. It brings something new, keeps the characters feeling the same, and delivers laughs all the way through. Overall Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties is another fun, easygoing Garfield adventure that totally delivers for fans of the first movie. I loved it and would definitely watch it again anytime I need something light and funny.
