Gangs of New York Ratings & Reviews
- SoranIsOnFebruary 11, 2026Solid slice of the past, well acted, costumes and tone on point. great film.
- Judson PenceAugust 9, 2025I've never been to New York but now it looks like it sucks there. Cameron Diaz was super hot though.
- mickerdooJuly 2, 2025Scorsese crushes this gritty, gory period piece. Incredible sets and costumes. Leo is really dynamic. Day-Lewis is terrifying. Repeat watch.
- hairydemonJanuary 18, 2026The day Scorsese died for me was the day he started working with DiCaprio. This is cringey screwball cheese, with a bunch of Cosplayers mugging in top hats and silly moustaches. and Daniel Day Lewis as the Widow Twanky. Filed along with the recent "Nose feratu". Compare this to Once Upon a Time in America. In fact, please don't!
- Gianni CavuotoDecember 1, 2025Love the story, love the acting and most of all I love Daniel Day Lewis. And epic film for an epic actor. He truly makes you belive he is Bill The Butcher, fully immersed in the character and story. I like to revisit this one from time to time to "see" the old neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan. I don't think many if not all of those streets still exist today except for Mulburry Street and Mott Street (my fave in modern Manhattan). The movie takes place in the 5 points neighborhood what is now Chinatown.
- cferacoSeptember 22, 2025Gangs of New York is Scorsese going full epic, trading the tight intimacy of his dark age for a sprawling blood-soaked opera about the birth of America. Daniel Day-Lewis devours the screen as Bill the Butcher, a villain so magnetic he overshadows everything around him, even DiCaprio’s revenge arc. The film is messy, brutal, and uneven, but it’s also Scorsese at his most ambitious, stitching violence, politics, and vengeance into a vision of a nation built on knives and betrayal.
- Edgardo LopezAugust 9, 2025Still holds up 23 years later.
- CarbonDJNovember 4, 2025Absolutely love this movie. Leonardo vs Daniel is such a great watch. I love the way the setting is established and just beautiful to watch.
- Lluc PlaOctober 7, 2025Brilliant, detailed atmosphere, lacks a bit of grit.
- Duvalfla87August 2, 2025Awesome movie..
- tellumAugust 17, 2025The main criticism is that it’s not as good as other Scorsese crime dramas, and it’s not, but as a period piece it is very well shot and the story is fascinating.
- AndreiTamasMay 26, 2025some cool scenes. wanted to like it, but didnt
