Absurdist biopic about Franz Kafka and a pseudo exploration of his life and perhaps what inspired his major works. It’s ambitious, but I can’t really say it landed for me. It contains a standard biopic narrative, but also has these other elements like 4th wall breaks flash-forwards to the present day Kafka museum. Personally, I think it’s the absurdist elements that worked best. But the film simultaneously feels like it’s overstuffed with information and yet there’s also not enough story to latch onto. I definitely started checking my watch when there was still around 45-50 minutes left on the run-time. Poland’s official entry to the International Feature Oscar, but I’m doubting it earns a nom.
