- LivewireAdminDecember 2, 2025"Where should we be if no one tried to find out what lies beyond? Have you never wanted to look beyond the clouds and the stars, or to know what causes the trees to bud? And what changes the darkness into light?" Thank you Mary Shelley for creating probably my favorite genre in 1818. note: Boomers/Gen X like to make fun of trigger warnings in front of shows and movies now but they literally had to add a scene to the beginning of this because religious groups were in an uproar lol
- KylachamJune 15, 2025I'm rating for a more modern audience who will find this almost century-old film not as scary, nor as shocking to the sensibilities, as the 1931 audience would have. However it does still represent a modernisation (for the time) of the horror genre, and is therefore essential viewing for historical cinephiles.
