- Adam AzulOctober 25, 2024For Sale is a 2024 Horror Comedy starring Andrew Roth. This film had a quirky little premise that drew me in. Early on it even lived up to it, with genuine laugh out loud moments. Unfortunately, a little bit past the halfway point it starts to falter, slightly shifting its tone to a more serious nature. This has a fatiguing effect as the energy seems to be sucked out of the movie. After that, the film doesn’t seem to know where it wants to land, tone wise. Andrew Roth plays his character perfectly, giving off the suave con artist vibes well while also showing that he does have his morals. Some of the other characters, however, have wasted potential. This is especially notable with Corinne Britti’s character, who is somewhat underutilized. The pair’s contrasting personalities could have been a great source to ramp up the humor in the film, but after a certain point, their interactions become drastically limited. Despite this, the last scene does somewhat bring back that quirky spirit of the movie, but it seems too little too late. What had led up to that point was just so much unnecessary melodrama. I couldn’t help but groan as I knew if done right it could have all worked. Overall, there were the seeds of a good story buried in this film, but it got lost along the way. It was an admirable enough attempt, but this movie isn’t going to be one you’ll be clamoring to watch again.
