Foolshead, Victim of His Honesty
Directed by André DeedFoolshead falls in with some friends outside a cafe. They invite him to join them, but after a while all make excuses and depart, leaving him to settle with the waiter. After searching every nook and corner of his pockets, he succeeds in paying the bill. Walking through the streets, he notices a soldier drop a watch. Still intent on being honest, he picks it up and hurries after the loser. He stumbles and falls just as he reaches him, with the result that the soldier accuses him of stealing the watch, and gives him "one" which lays him out flat. Later on, he finds a pocket-book, and no owner being visible, goes to the police-station to hand over the lost property. There is a comical scene, for he is compelled to wait amongst a lot of rogues, one of whom relieves him of the pocket-book. In the office of the chief, Foolshead tells a story of his discovery, and is commended for his remarkable honesty. But alas when he is asked to produce the book he cannot find it in his pocket, and he is literally pitched out of the police station for endeavoring to make a fool of the chief. A rough is about to rob a bank messenger. Foolshead succeeds in stopping him, but the messenger walks away, leaving his satchel. Foolshead gazes at it for a while, but having had enough of being honest, he turns his back on it, and leaves it for whoever likes to pick it up.
