I genuinely believe Terry Gilliam’s eye is the only way this movie works as well as it did. A deliberately messy blend of so many different emotions and styles that somehow develop rhythm with each other.

For some reason, I even chose to read the script for part of a school assignment about book-to-film adaptations... & then it clicked. I was lmao. How did I not see how FUNNY it was? So then I read the book, LOVED IT & lmao even more... Hired that movie it from Blockbuster one last time before buying that DVD because after that watch, I finally Got It, & the rest is history. Amazingly done & unique film, the leads absolutely nail it & I'm so so happy it got given to Gilliam, or we may have ended up with another milquetoast, sub-standard offering like Where the Buffalo Roam.
