On the planet Ygam, the Draags, extremely technologically and spiritually advanced blue humanoids, consider the tiny Oms, human beings descendants of Terra's inhabitants, as ignorant animals. Those who live in slavery are treated as simple pets and used to entertain Draag children; those who live hidden in the hostile wilderness of the planet are periodically hunted and ruthlessly slaughtered as if they were vermin.

There's probably a lifetime's worth of inspiration in this one for some. Possibly genius, possibly completely loopy but 100% committed to whatever it is...or was. Deeply, beautifully, painfully alien.

I genuinely dislike this movie, but I respect its creativity. And I agree with the message of animal cruelty being wrong. However, the point is belabored in sophomoric ways. The exposition of "humans as pets" is VERY heavy-handed, and depicting ALL Draag (alien owners) as cruel is both offensive and misses the point of fostering animals in real life. Why do the Om use lesser animals as expendable if the premise is that the Draag unjustly torture Om in the same way? Hypocrisy. The movie is not pleasing, nor fun to watch, nor even to listen to. Someone took SERIOUS drugs to concoct this story and grotesque imagery, most of it is nightmarish--this coming from a lover of horror movies. Scenes where one can derive no allegory are unnecessary, with acid jazz and uncomfortable stylizations aiding the assault on your senses. All the tech jargon creates more feelings of illness as you continue to watch even the normal scenes. The creativity presented far exceeds anything a lucid mind could envision. It gets credit for that. But the movie itself should only be viewed as an experience, not as anything else. Run from people who list this acid trip as one of their favorites.
