- Kevin WardJuly 14, 2025I liked this more than The Crimes of Grindewald, but only marginally. Large chunks of this Fantastic Beasts franchise so far are just a bore to sit through. The change from Johnny Depp to Mads Mikkelson is a marked improvement. This isn’t bad per se, but, like the first two films, I doubt I will remember any of this by the time the fourth (and fifth) films get released. It might be time for Muggles to rise up and put an end to this wizarding world.

This definitely starts to tie up some of the loose ends and is starting to make some connections to the Harry Potter stories! Dumbledore has revealed all his secrets to the wizarding world . I have finally learned how all things came together between dumbledore and hogwarts . I hope to see Tom Riddles' family come face to face with dumbledores .
- Brandon WinfieldSeptember 30, 2025It took me 20 mins to figure out they replaced John Depp. Such a shock from the last 2 movies for the whole character. The stark differences between even the looks left me lost. For this I automatically removed 2 stars. I wish they would have explored more into what happens at the end… answer I’m sure I’ll have to read a book to find out. Also the Apperations are over used. Wand battles are okay but lacking in creativity. This is not the same wizarding world from Harry Potter. But with all that said the movie is full of new experiences and a beautiful story. Writing team did a wonderful job… but the other teams seem to have been lacking a bit. Overall with the watch and maybe very few years. Didn’t quite live up to the same expectations as the Harry Potter’s series.

- jackmeatSeptember 3, 2025My quick rating - 6.2/10. I am actually a bigger fan of these flix than I have been of Harry Potter for some reason. I felt this one lost a bit of the creature fun that set the first couple apart from the whole wizardry lore of the Potter films. This time, I felt as though they leaned into more of that with more spellcasting and magic wands and not as much a suitcase filled with mythical animals. What was lost there to me as a viewer, they did make up for with a good story of stopping the evil Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) from ruling the magic world through his own methods of deceit. Along the way, the title character, played by Jude Law, is well cast, along with the rest, to fight against him. As expected, the effects look tremendous at times. But again, with all the magic wand spellcasting, I got tired of the zapping lightning from their sticks rather quickly. Still, with that personal gripe aside, I enjoyed this one, and I cannot see any fans of the others being more disappointed than my piddly complaint. You may actually even like it better for the exact same reason, especially bigger Potter fans. Returning characters were all in tow to solidify the trilogy that clearly has more steam going. Might have been a bit heavy on the political plotline at times, though. I guess the long and short is to check this one out for yourself.
- CarterMay 7, 2026Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledoor is still a good movie on rewatch Positives: - The movie visually looks great and is well made and directed - The score is really good - The action sequences are really solid - There are some good twists and turns in the movie - The performances are really solid -The movie has a really cool election vibe to it that kind of makes it unique -The movie also has some good tension to it Negatives: -The movie does drag a decent amount -The movie does overstay it’s welcome -I don’t like how the movie treats the last two movies -There is a couple of characters who are missing in this movie -The characters don’t really have a personality in this movie and they just don’t really do much in the film -The movie also leaves off at an odd spot because of the box office numbers and Warner Bros. not wanting to make a 4th film Overall Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledoor is a solid movie in the Wizarding World.
- M08YApril 21, 2026Now I think about it, this film has a lot in common with Rise of Skywalker. I didn't have particularly high expectations going into this one, but good lord it's rough. Any attempt at taking the wizarding decent into facism seriously was totally abandoned here. Just 24 hours after watching it I can barely even remember what happened. The plot feels incredibly disjointed, there's very little continuity. Just like Rise of Skywalker, there is almost no breathing room here at all. Even the brief moments of quiet feel chaotic, like you can never just sit with it. The ending to Ezra Miller's story was pretty underwhelming, the Resolution of Queenie and Jacob's romance was underwhelming and the fight between Dumbledore and Grindelwald was underwhelming. You might be starting to see a theme here. Just like it's Star Wars equivalent, many keys are jangled and many a mcguffin is invented. The internal lack of consistency is astounding. The recasting of Johnny Depp is a weird one. I think that Mikkelsen is a much better fit for the role, I can actually see him and Dumbledore together as a young couple. The only question I have to ask was why they case Depp in the first place? The audio and visuals also have a lot in common with Rise of Skywalker, the entire film looks like it was filmed on a green screen. It's overblown and weightless. The scenes that are shot on location generally look good. The audio is neither here nor there. Basically, the film sucks and the visuals are mediocre at best, I wouldnt blame you for not bothering with the 4K bluray.
- ArnioxFebruary 26, 2026Eh it was alright. It was better than the second by a lot, but still worse than the first. It had a decent plot, and very cool scenes and fights.... But it felt rushed, and jumped around ALOT and was honestly so hard to follow. I ended up using Wikipedia and reading the plot to follow along properly. Otherwise a decent story, and fun movie. Madds absolutely killed it in the role of Grindelwald. It's a shame Debt was kicked off this series, because he suit the role much better. But I think Madds was a fantastic replacement. The only real choice other than Debt.

Lady Transphobic Racists shows her true colors through the script. Awful. AT LEAST they got the story together a bit this time for it to make sense. The whole trilogy is a lot of "I will tell you and don't show" which is nonsensical for a movie.

The whole thing was contrived and put into the hands of someone who had never wrote screenplays before. It shows, utterly awful.
- IcarusNovember 20, 2024Dumbledore is gay, and the leader of the wizards is a woman. Even so, I would have loved for a fourth movie to be made. Good overall fun movie, fantastic visuals, good acting.
