Constant work makes dreams come true: this is Kian's reality in a dystopian prison in which he lives his daily, recurring routine - as if brainwashed. In exchange for his work, he is allowed to escape into his dreams to see Astra, the love of his life. But his life is turned upside down when the new inmate Pax is brought to prison. She realizes the dangerous exploitation by the system and wants to open Kian's eyes. Kian is forced down the path of an uncertain realization, while Pax is gradually made to become a good prison worker. The lines between dream and reality blur and Kian doesn't have much time to escape his fate. Director Cadenza Zhao translates Verlaine's poem into a dystopian setting and a modern film language.
