Beth und Ellie werden fortan mit ihren schlimmsten Albträumen konfrontiert, die sich als sogenannte Deadites manifestieren. Die Wesen, die sich an den Seelen lebender Kreaturen ergötzen, verlangen den Frauen alles ab. Doch nicht nur das: Als der Punkt gekommen ist, an dem sich beide Schwestern entzweien, muss Beth all ihre Grenzen überwinden, um sich und die Kinder beschützen zu können.

- Kevin Ward3. Juli 2025Evil Dead Rise is a bloody good time at the theater. Alyssa Sutherland’s physical performance and creepy unsettling movements make for an excellent deadite. Plenty of callbacks to the original films as well as the 2013, but at the same time it doesn’t really expand much on the lore or present anything markedly new aside from a location change out of the cabin in the woods and into a decrepit old apartment building. The family dynamic does add a layer of tension to the horrors. It would be much harder to just cut bait and run if it was close family member being possessed; and the weight of that family dynamic is felt throughout thanks to some great performances from all of the young actors. The film is really well shot making good use of the confined location. I really loved the look of the peephole sequences. I loved the cold open sequence. It features a gorgeous shot of an A frame cabin in the woods and a really awesome title card reveal. At the same time though, the opening sequence (and the closing bookend) really doesn’t tie in narratively to anything else. I had a really good time with it. It’s honestly probably my least favorite Evil Dead film, but that’s largely because the bar has been set so high. (Also, I’ve yet to see Army of Darkness). Highly recommend for the horror fans out there. See it in a packed theater, with a great sound sound system.

- jackmeat12. Januar 2026My quick rating - 7.3/10. I have been looking forward to Evil Dead Rise ever since I heard of its existence. Three siblings discover an old vinyl recording that spawns blood-starved demons that run wildly in an apartment building in Los Angeles, putting the siblings in a struggle for survival in a nightmare of a family that no one ever dared fantasize. It is only because I am a horror film buff that I appreciate how this film initiates you into its world from page one, as this film does indeed from its opening scenes, where heads start rolling before it even starts. The good thing about this version of my favorite horror series is the ability to establish an atmosphere of fear. This is mostly because of the setting, where the plot unfolds inside an apartment building, where the environment is quite cramped, and just about every second is a struggle to survive. Evil Dead Rise is good at mixing the genres of supernatural and psychological horror together to keep you sitting on the edge of your seat the entire time. Acting-wise, this film has reasonably good human portrayals to match the fear and desperation that the individuals experience. I thought Mirabai Pease did a nice job taking over the movie from the start as our leading lady. Each one of them contributed to the authenticity of the story, which allowed us to empathize with their situation. Special effects and the gore are also good, bringing the shock element that all of us fans of the Evil Dead series demand. You may find the storyline familiar since it involves people being stranded in a haunted place. However, what makes Evil Dead Rise is the twist that comes with the story to keep things fresh. I have to say this film delivers on its promises. It connects with the tradition of the series and also provides enough of its own unique spin to better fit this world and these characters. Those people who do like the Evil Dead series recognize the way that this movie both pays attention to the original while also offering enough new and fresh material to get excited about. This has been the thing that has worried me the most about this movie, and it succeeds at providing an entertaining and gory viewing experience. It’s good that they could do with it the way that they did and also provide enough to start fresh, and this is something that captures the heartbeat of why the Evil Dead series is my favorite overall, and hopefully will introduce the world to the Deadite mayhem that us fans have come to expect.

- AngusMcNutz18. April 2025Just a big "Eh..". Serviceable, for the most part, with plenty of the absurd gore you want. Just felt a little long in the tooth for how little actually happens, although that sentiment is probably more representative of the entire franchise itself.

Every scene Alyssa Sutherland is in, is instantly made better by her presence. Absolutely love her performance, completely steals the show. The abomination at the end is awesome. Can't wait for Evil Dead Burn! Wish they coulda brought back Alyssa. GROOVY

Juli 2025I get trying something new with a location/environment but if you are going to treat it exactly the same as a cabin in the woods, then you're not really adding anything new other than backdrop. I just feel it was a missed opportunity to do something interesting in the new urban setting....maybe having to fight down the building floor by floor, and each level is some new horror or challenge? I dunno, maybe I have too high of standards set by Evil Dead 2, which I saw when I was 7, and it scared the all the solids (and liquids) out of my body. 💩🟡💦 Still probably one of my earliest memories is watching Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn with my brother and him warning me it will give me nightmares... and him being totally right about that shit 😱 No likes yet

- Niztradamus20. Oktober 2025A pretty good supernatural and gory horror movie... but not a Evil Dead movie imo. No Sam Raimi directing (or at least helping as in the 2013 reboot), no Bruce Campbell with his wit and charme and the deadites, while feeling even cruler and more sadistic than in previous entries to the franchise, they just aren't as funny anymore. Our lead actress, while doing a good job acting, isn't a new coming of Ash either but she utters a few throwback one liners throughout the movie. If you look at this movie on it's own it is a compentent splatter fest with plenty of horror elements. If you look at this as an Evil Dead fan of 20 years or even longer it just doesn't have the flair of the original franchise. The 2013 reboot had similar problems. You just can't replace a duo like Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. They give a movie that special sauce that makes it go from good to great. I mean, in three movies they went from posession body horror to horror comedy to fantasy and every movie was a hit!

- Ricardo Aranda25. Juli 2025Boring. I keep waiting for something good to happen but it never does. Characters all make dumb or bizarre decisions. The antagonist is mostly harmless. Not sure how this is even related to the Evil Dead franchise. I guess you just need the book and that's it, you have yourself an evil dead movie.
