Carl has experienced an emotional tragedy with the recent loss of Rose as his girlfriend. His struggle is that he is living in denial about the end of their relationship. Carl's obstacle he will have to overcome through out Ends Meet is getting over Rose and moving on with his life. But coming to terms with that reality is a long and strange road.
