Drive Hard Ratings & Reviews
- Shaun FirthMay 21, 2025It's true, critics hated this movie. My two cents? It's flawed, but a LOT of fun. Cusack is at his wisecracking, charming, quirky best in a roll that's dark and almost heroic at the same time. Thomas Jane sometimes overplayed a role that isn't really made for him, but I blame the script. He's too strong for the underdog he is directed to play. Still the chemistry is good, the humour isn't original but it is funny, and the Australian setting gives it all a odd slant that really worked for me. If you like this film like I did, look also for Vehicle 19. It's a Paul Walker car chase movie set in South Africa that was also panned by critics.
