Don't Knock Twice Ratings & Reviews
The Allen Home
5d ago
The chills were well done, and it has good pacing. What kills it are the odd continuity issues with the house and the woods. Overall, a pretty good horror flick that many should enjoy.
The Wolfman Cometh
Patrick Cavanaugh
Doesn't know whether it would rather be a B-movie full of fantastic scares or a dramatic thriller whose frightening scenes mirrored the tension the characters were experiencing.
Jordy Reviews It
Jordy Sirkin
Don't Knock Twice has a promising premise, but it fails to deliver the scares or draw in the viewer.
Cinema Crazed
Emilie Black
he film turns out to a bit run of the mill for fans of the genre but should interest fans of Katee Sackhoff and the more casual genre viewers. It's entertaining enough and is an easy watch.
PopHorror.com
Tracy Allen
... a twisty... confusing tale.
CutPrintFilm
Chris Evangelista
It's the script that isn't doing Don't Knock Twice any favors.
MovieFreak.com
Sara Michelle Fetters
The actual horror and thriller aspects just don't gel together with any of the other elements, making James' latest genre effort a movie I respect multiple elements of even if I can't say I enjoyed near as much as I can't help but wish I did.
Nerdist
Scott Weinberg
While a substantial early portion of Don't Knock Twice may feel a bit familiar, it quickly finds its feet and settles into a nice spooky groove that fans of indie/import horror will be sure to appreciate.
The Hollywood Reporter
Frank Scheck
If it had skipped the clichd supernatural elements to instead concentrate on the relationship between the two central characters, Don't Knock Twice might have emerged as an interesting film.
RogerEbert.com
Simon Abrams
The makers of Don't Knock Twice never successfully flesh out their characters as people, leaving viewers to roll their eyes whenever characters open the wrong door.
HollywoodInToto.com
Christian Toto
Watch carefully. Katee Sackhoff's performance in Don't Knock Twice is a silent cry to find projects worthy of her.
PopMatters
Amanda Gilroy
Savor its clever annotations of feminist horror film theory. Or just enjoy the more visceral pleasures of fear.
Los Angeles Times
Noel Murray
A warmed-over hash of "Candyman," "Oculus," "Insidious" and a half-dozen other spook-shows.
Blu-ray.com
Brian Orndorf
A compelling nightmare, watching James take special care with chills and thrills, only throttling the viewing experience when it comes time to detangle a modestly engaging story.
Film Journal International
Matt Donato
Stale, without chills, and not the demonic game of ding-dong-ditch we'd hope for.
AV Club
Alex McLevy
This is the second film in a row where James has proven himself a talented orchestrator of complex low-budget genre fare ... wringing the most out of a limited budget through moxie and smart casting.
TheFrightFile.com
Dustin Putman
The picture ends up in a state of flux, not doing anything wrong enough to be bad but not fully realized enough to be more than a missed opportunity.
Slant Magazine
Henry Stewart
The film's storylines fail to inform or intensify each other in any theme-deepening or character-developing ways.
